Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

ClassHatch is an educational software product operated by Shortcut Lab Pty Ltd, an Australian company.

We respect your privacy and aim to collect only the information necessary to provide our services.

This policy currently describes our public website and early access waitlist. We will update it before publicly launching our classroom features.

1. Who We Are

ClassHatch is operated by Shortcut Lab Pty Ltd, an Australian company.

Website: classhatch.app

Privacy enquiries: privacy@classhatch.app

2. Information We Collect

When you join our early access waitlist, we collect:

  • Email address: Required to contact you about early access.
  • Teacher type: Optional information about your educational role.
  • Marketing preferences: Whether you have opted in to additional marketing communications.
  • Registration date and time: Used to manage waitlist registrations.

Our website and technology providers may also process limited technical information, such as IP addresses, browser information and security-related request data, to operate and protect the website.

We do not ask you to provide student information when joining the waitlist.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Manage your early access registration.
  • Contact you about the early access you requested.
  • Understand general interest in ClassHatch.
  • Respond to questions and privacy requests.
  • Maintain the security and reliability of our services.
  • Send additional product news, promotions or special offers only where you have opted in or another applicable legal permission exists.

You can join the waitlist without agreeing to receive additional marketing emails.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on consent for optional marketing and an appropriate lawful basis for administering waitlist registrations, responding to enquiries and protecting the service.

4. Marketing Communications

Marketing communications are optional.

If you choose to receive them, you may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting privacy@classhatch.app or using the unsubscribe method provided in a marketing email.

Withdrawing marketing consent does not automatically prevent us from responding to a separate request you have made.

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.

5. How We Store and Protect Information

Waitlist registration information is stored using Supabase, our database service provider.

We use technical and organisational safeguards intended to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss and misuse.

Access to personal information is restricted to those who need it for legitimate business purposes.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

6. Service Providers and International Data Transfers

We use external technology providers to operate ClassHatch, including:

  • Supabase: Database infrastructure.
  • Google Workspace: Business email and communications.

Other providers involved in website hosting, security or analytics will be identified as those services are introduced.

Because ClassHatch operates internationally, personal information may be processed outside your country of residence.

Where required by applicable law, we will implement appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

7. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain waitlist information for as long as reasonably necessary to administer early access and related communications.

We will review information that is no longer needed and delete or de-identify it, unless continued retention is necessary for a legitimate purpose or required by law.

If you request deletion, we will process your request in accordance with applicable law.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • Request access to your personal information.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your information.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Request a portable copy of your information, where applicable.

To exercise these rights, contact privacy@classhatch.app.

We may request reasonable verification before acting on a privacy request.

You may also have the right to complain to a relevant privacy regulator, including the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, the UK Information Commissioner's Office or a competent European data protection authority.

9. Children's Privacy

The ClassHatch waitlist is intended for teachers and other education professionals, not children.

Children should not submit personal information through the waitlist.

ClassHatch's planned classroom features are designed to minimise the collection of children's personal information.

Teachers will be able to choose their own class names, student nicknames and pet names. Real names will not be required.

However, classroom information may still be personal information if an individual student can be identified, even when a nickname is used.

These classroom features are not covered by the current waitlist-only version of this policy. We will update our privacy information before making them publicly available.

10. Cookies and Analytics

Our website may use technologies necessary for operation, reliability and security.

If we introduce optional analytics or advertising technologies, we will update our privacy information and provide any choices or consent mechanisms required by applicable law.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our services, information handling practices or legal obligations.

The latest version will be available on our website, with its effective date.
